| A striking 16th century engraving depicting a small map of the Americas surrounded by symbolic illustrations of various inventions including gunpowder, printing, silk production and distilling. This print formed the title page to Flemish artist Joannes Stradanus' "Nova Reperta" (New Findings), a series of drawings celebrating the explosion of science and discovery occurring at this time. This engraving is a decorative and significant image from this rare and important work on Renaissance discoveries. |
