As befits their accolade
as the most important English globe makers of the 19th century, this
wonderful pair of library globes show the most up to date geography of
the time. Not only are the tracks of Captain Cook marked but also
those used by English sailing ships to India and the Far East.
Land exploration is also well documented with details of new
territories discovered by the Lewis and Clark expedition in the
Pacific North West of the USA and a depiction of a misshapen Vancouver
Island. In Australia there is a tentative demarcation line between the
English possessions of New South Wales (the Eastern half of the continent)
and the Dutch possessions of New Holland (the Western half); this line was
laid out by the British governor of New South Wales.
