To the lower right of the map is an inset of Pooles Hole (or cavern), a 2 million year old natural limestone cave.The name derives from an outlaw, Poole, who reputedly used the cave as a lair and a base to rob travellers in the fifteenth century. Another view in the top left border illustrates 'The Devils Arse' (the Peak Cavern), the largest cave system in the Peak District). Other images within the borders are of excavated fossils and teeth.
