Fessae et Marocchi Regna
Beautiful Golden Age map of Morocco issued in Jodocus Hondius's re-issue of Gerhard Mercator's Atlas.
This was one of the 36 maps which Hondius added to his Mercator reprint. The source which Hondius used was Ortelius's late map which bears an engraving date of 1595 and is one of the few maps on which Ortelius signs his own name. Hondius replaced the inset on the upper left with a plan of the harbour of Penon de Velez de la Gomera, a Spanish possession connected to Morocco. Original colour.
