This four-sheet folding wall map of Africa showing the continent during the Age of Exploration with the latest discoveries of several explorers.
This
example is dated 1866, but with additions to 1878. These additions include some
of the greatest journeys by European explorers. These include the routes of
Stanley, Cameron, Charles Gordon and Samuel Baker in the centre and east of the
continent. Livingstonia is marked on the southern shore of Lake Nyasa. The
northwest section of the map shows the routes of the great explorers of the
Sahara, including Caillie, Barth, Vincent, Panet and Bou el Mogdad.
