Description:
Grand county map of Hertfordshire with a decorative title cartouche, a splendid dedication to the Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, and with several blocks of text describing the history of Hertford and of the Earls of Hartford. The title cartouche amusingly depicts four farmers resting in a field of ripe wheat, one of whom is taking a deep swig from a barrel of ale.
Published in Kitchin's Large English Atlas. Original hand colour. [HERTS396] |
