Description:
Large chart focusing on the extreme north coast of Scotland as well as the Islands of Orkney and the Isles of Shetland with many insets of the harbours of the islands.
Among the more interesting aspects of this map is the marking of the location of the house of John O’ Groats (John O’Groats House) as well as Dunnet Head, the northern most point of the mainland of the United Kingdom. The islands are marked with extraordinary detail and multiple insets focus on the harbours. The chart is credited to Commanders Slater, Otter and Thomas, finished in 1863. There were minor corrections to 1872. SL [SCOT1729] |
