Description:
County map of Surrrey based on John Speed's geography. One of the more unusual of Dutch Golden Age county maps.
As with his counterpart Blaeu and later the Valk and Schenk partnership in the later 17th century, the geography of the map is based on Speed. Where this map differs from its counterparts is in the layout and design of the armorial decoration around the border. The cartouche and the coat of arms on the upper left and right also different from its counterparts.
Coloured. French text on reverser. Image available upon reques. [SURREY617] |
