An early illustration of the star constellation of Libra from a work entitled "Arataea sive signa coelestia". De Gheyn's monogram is present on the lower left corner.
This is a re-issue published in 1621 of a work originally published by Hugo Grotius entitled "Syntagma Arateorum" in 1600. Grotius is one of the major figures in the establishment of international law and also the lawyer who formalised the "rights" of people. The 1621 edition of this work was published by the major map publisher, Johannes Jansson.
