Early map of Staffordshire by John Speed, the most famous of all English 17th century cartographers. First issued in 1611 as part of the "Theater of the Empire of Great Britaine", the map was based on an earlier map by Christopher Saxton.
The two inset plans of Stafford and Lichfield were Speed's own innovations and additions and are among the earliest of not the earliest plans of those two cities.
