A decorative map of Northamptonshire by one of the leading mapmakers of the Dutch Golden Age. Towns, forests, hills, and enclosed estates are specifically denoted. The map features a splendid title cartouche depicting local farm labourers and livestock, and is further embellished with the coats of arms of important local nobles from history. These include Siward, 11th century Earl of Northumbria, and William Parr, brother to King Henry VIII's sixth wife.
