The Battle of Wagram was a major engagement in the later stages of the Napoleonic Wars. Fought between the forces of Napoleon and Archduke Charles of Austria, it was an important albeit costly victory for the French. It led to the dissolution of the Fifth Alliance between the English and the Austrians and for a short period of time, landlocked the Austrian Empire.
It is also known as being the largest battle fought on land up to that point, with forces numbering a combined 300,000 men.
