Batavia city plan. Now Jakarta. Attractive map with decorative cartouche.
This is a reduction of Frederic de Wit's plan of the city issued in 1681 which is one of the first to show the new Dutch fortifications.
This version of the map appeared in the "Histoire Generale des Voyages" and it remains one of the few examples of an 18th century plan of old Jakarta still available to the collector.
