Attractive map of the Caucasus and Armenia showing the latest political developments of the late 19th century.
This unusual map focusing on the Caucasus now shows the region of Kars within Russia. This was as a result of the Treaty of Berlin of 1878 which saw the Ottoman Empire lose much of their territory after their disastrous war if 1877-8. The map also shows the completion of the trans-Caucasian railway between the oil rich city of Baku to the Black Sea ports of Poti and Batumi. It was completed in 1883.
