Attractive Italian map of Malta issued in Porcacchi's Isolario or Book of Islands.
As with many of Porcacchi's maps, it is beautifully engraved and substantially embellished for its size. Two sea monsters and a merman lurk on the upper part of the sheet while a compass rose is present on the lower. A small ship is present on the upper right.
Geographically the map bears a close resemblance to the map published by Domenico Zenoi in 1567.
