This promotional map of Arizona is focusing on its western heritage, specifically the more gruesome aspects. Ghost towns are marked with a skull on the map while the map also differentiates between Old Mines and Lost Mines. The latter are often associated with rumours of treasure, such as Hashknife Charlie's Treasure, a supposed lost cache of gold bars.
The borders around the map abound with scenes of conflict, either personal or military.
Larry Toschik, credited as the artist responsible for the map, would go on to become one of the pre-eminent wildlife artists of the State approximately four years later.
