A plan of the Battle of Prestonpans (21st September 1745), the first significant battle of the Jacobite Rebellion. Lasting only 30 minutes, this brief engagement in which the Jacobite Army soundly defeated an inexperienced British Army of 2,500 men provided the necessary morale boost to launch the Rebellion in earnest.

The positions of the British and Scottish armies are shown in red and green, respectively, with infantry and cavalry also distinguished. The names of each of the regiments are given along with the names and positions of the commanders.
