Fascinating map of Malaysia and Singapore showing Allied army and air force positions at the start of the Japanese invasion on December 8th, 1941. Airfields which had been occupied by the invading Japanese army are marked as such.
This map was published in The Defence of the United Kingdom (1957), one of the many volumes which made up the UK government's official history of the Second World War. The authors of these volumes had access to records which were still highly confidential at the time, making these fascinating objects of historical record.
