Antonio Zatta
42 x 32 cm
This is the later state of the map. The first was published in 1785 but bar the date change on the cartouche, the map remained the same. Geographically, the map is not based mainly on the early 18th century geography of Mortier and Valentyn.
Despite these geographical shortcomings, as is usual with Zatta, the map has been expertly engraved, beautifully coloured in the period and bears a charming cartouche, making it one most attractive maps of its size and age.
Published in Zatta’s landmark, multi-volume atlas Atlante Novissimo.
Original colour. [IC2893]
