A large folding map of London published by the Illustrated London News as a free supplement for visitors to the Great Exhibition of 1862.
Railways (both completed and under construction) are noted on the map in purple with railway stations in bright red. Main roads are also highlighted in a slightly more subtle shade of red. The site of the Exhibition can be seen in South Kensington on the current site of the Natural History Museum.
The map was drawn and engraved by John Dower for the ILN. Original colour. [LDN7474]
