Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge (SPCK)
220 x 192 cm
The SPCK, a charitable organization founded in London in 1698, is the oldest Anglican mission in the world and one of Britain's oldest publishers. Their mission was to combat social ills and immorality by increasing access to education, especially Christian teachings. This map provides an indication of just how broad the Society's activities had become by the Victorian Era, when education was considered a moral imperative and there was a new drive to provide access to educational materials for all classes of society.
