Published by the New York Daily News in February 1952, this map complains that US taxpayers were experiencing a "global headache" after sending more than $32 billion in Mutual Security Aid abroad since the end of WW2. Another $7.5 billion was expected to be sent in 1952 alone. The map also provides a more detailed breakdown of spending by region, with $5 billion of military aid going to Europe, $500 million going to East Asia, and $400 million going to the Near East. The text below the map questions whether any of this aid will ever be repaid.
Colour-coding is used to identify US allies (yellow), US occupied areas (grey with a soldier icon), and the USSR and its allies (red). NATO, the Inter-American Pact, and the various proposed Pacific Pacts are identified by different dashed lines.
Backed on archival linen for conservation purposes. Printed colour. [WLD4856]
