A fascinating map of Central Europe showing the new borders agreed by the Paris Peace Conference and the Treaty of Versailles after WW1. Czechoslovakia and Poland were established as independent nations by the treaty, whilst Hungary (a member of the Axis powers during the war) was much reduced in size. Danzig, Memel, Upper Silesia, and the Saarland are all shaded in white to show their status as League of Nations mandated territories awaiting plebiscites to decide their futures.

These interwar borders are unique to this brief period: Memel was occupied by Lithuania in 1923; Upper Silesia voted to join Poland in 1921; the Saarland voted to re-join Germany in 1935; and the Free City of Danzig was invaded by Germany at the start of WW2.
