An enormous folding wall map of Montevideo showing the city as a thriving, wealthy, and rapidly expanding metropolis. At this time, Montevideo was the richest and most progressive city in South America. Though undated, the presence of the Palacio Legislativo (finished 1925) and the absence of the Estadio Centenario (constructed 1929-30) gives us an estimated printing date of 1928.
The map is designed in Bemporat's classic Art Deco style with an elegant border and attractive title cartouche. Several smaller inset maps focus on the city's newer suburbs and one shows the city as it was in 1800. An index identifies and locates 76 important plazas and public buildings.
