Miniature map of Europe by the Royal Geographer to King Louis XIV of France.
Duval's maps are broadly based on those by Nicholas Sanson, his uncle and under whom he apprenticed. Ultimately, he became very successful, earning the accolade of Royal Geographer and leaving behind a legacy of important maps as well as more mass appeal items such as a series of games, including "the Game of the Goose".
