Following numerous border settlements, the boundaries between the States east of the Mississippi have been mostly settled. The last area still to be named is the region of what would become Minnesota, here called or North West Territory. Beyond the Mississippi are the new states and territories of Louisiana, Arkansas and Missouri. North of Missouri is the amorphous region of Missouri Territory, still to be determined.
