This is a reduced version of de L'isle's map, but in full original colour, in the Dutch style with bold body colour. Geographically, the map is ultimately sourced from the notes and details of a courtier to Louis XIV named David-Francois de Merveilleux, who acted as the main source for De L'isle, who acknowledges this on his map first issued in 1715.
De L'Isle's map became one of the major sources for Swiss maps of the 18th century. The other being the wall of the country by Johann-Jakob Scheuchzer published in 1727.
Original colour. [SWAS1579]
