This substantial folding wall map of the world shows the political borders in 1905, just after the Russo-Japanese War. The main focus of the map are railways and shipping routes, which are marked in with bold red lines. Large inset maps show seven areas in greater detail: Canada and the northeastern US; the Suez Canal; the Caribbean and Central America; Britain and northern Europe; West Africa; the Mediterranean Sea; and Japan.
The map itself is undated, but it clearly shows the results of the Treaty of Portsmouth (1905) which ended the Russo-Japanese War: Japan claimed half of Sakhalin, took Korea into its sphere of influence, and Russia surrendered Port Arthur. The British Central Africa Protectorate has not yet been renamed to the Nyasaland Protectorate and New Zealand is not yet marked as a Dominion, suggesting a date before 1907.
