Geographically the map is based on de L'Isle's map but augmented by Buache. Much of the interior is still mysterious and by this stage, much of it has been left blank as opposed to relying on rumours and speculation. Unlike de l'Isle however, de la Tour adds both an illustrative cartouche a crocodile basking on rocks as well as an elaborate border, framing the map in a rococo style.
Numerous ships adorn the seas.
