The map is focused on the Bund and was issued by Sugie, a Japanese printer and book seller. He was the owner of hte Nihon-do Japanese bookshop in the city. The first edition of this map was issued in 1931 and went through multiple editions into the 1940s. It was published as an ephemeral piece, a guide map or part of a guiden book, hence its relative scarcity.
