From Karl von Spruner's (1803-1892) Atlas of Antiquity, an atlas which applied historic information to geographically modern maps. Inset map top right of "Aegyptus Inferior" - Lower Egypt and the Delta of the River Nile and inset map to lower left of "Heptanomis" and "Thebais" - Middle Egypt.
Scales for both geographical miles and Roman miles accordingly, alongside stadia and schoenus. Schoenus was an ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman unit of length and area based on the knotted cords first used in Egyptian surveying. The key notes the Schoenus as being equal to 60 stadia. A stadion is an ancient Greek unit of length whose exact measure is unknown today.
As with many maps from that period, the geographical outline of this map was based on the map published by the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge in 1843.
