A large folding map of the county of Lanarkshire, with a substantial town plan of Glasgow int he lower-right corner. This is an updated reissue of John Thomson's 2-sheet map of Lanarkshire, featuring the same view of the Bonnington Linn waterfall (part of the Falls of Clyde) in the bottom-left corner and with Thomson's elegant, hachured topography. This edition has been conveniently joined and laid down on linen to fold into a booklet.
The map of Glasgow has also been updated to show the brand new Edinburgh & Glasgow Railway line depot as well as the proposed terminus of the Glasgow, Paisley, Kilmarnock & Ayr Railway. The first passenger railway station did not open until the following year (1842), so this is cutting-edge information.
