Matthaus Seutter
56 x 49 cm
As is often the case with Seutter's maps, the geography shown on the map is several decades old, reminiscent more of Valk's maps from the late 17th century than the advances made by individuals such as Moll or Bowen. However, characteristically, it has been beautifully engraved, the cartouches are large and pieces of art by themselves and it has been coloured in Seutter's usual style.
This is a particularly fine example of this map with very strong cartouches and little fading on the colour.
Original colour. [SCOT1837]
