Unusual and attractive map of the Isle of Wight on two sheets joined. Similar to the nascent Ordnance Survey but coloured in full at the time.
The survey has has been divided into twenty-four parishes. Clarke was based in Newport, hence his meticulous attention to detail. In several cases, individual farms are marked, together with hamlets, wooded areas and the road and path network.
The map was issued both as a paper example and as a linen backed segmented version. This example is on two sheets of paper, joined.
