This is a reduced version of Francesco Villamena's map of 1602 which appeared in a history of the Order of the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem published in Rome between 1594-1602 by Giacomo Bosio. Merian adapted it for his own work, the "Archontologia Cosmica."
