Interesting twentieth century pictorial map of the Bahrain islands marking roads and places of interest.
This is the second edition of the map, without the later inset on the lower right and not showing the Cable and Wireless stations. Although the map is dated 1951 on the lower right, the Guide did not appear until 1953, with a second edition appearing a year later.
The example for sale here also bears some minor annotations from a previous owner. These mark the "new runway" on Muharraq Island, the site of Bahrain International Airport. A further annotation marks "our living quarters" nearby, suggesting that a previous owner had worked on the runway or the airport.
Please note there is a small repaired tear on upper centre of this map. Printed colour. [MEAST4802]
