Bartolomeo Borghi
25 x 34 cm
This unusual map of Arabia is based on the map first issued by D'Anville in the 1750s, but augmented and revised with information taken from Niebuhr's maps and travels. Caravan routes are added, mainly from Basrah to the village of Al Amirah, here shown erroneously just north of Mecca while in reality it is a short distance south. A further caravan route is shown originating between the east coast of the Peninsula in the region of Qatar and Mecca. The classical divisions of Arabia Petrea, Arabia Felice (Felix) and Arabia Deserta are still present.
