Giovanni De Agostini

Today, Venezia Giulia has become Friuli-Venezia Giulia and only retains Trieste and a small area around it. This territorial change was enacted after World War II when most of the Istrian Peninsula was partitioned to Yugoslavia. Istria, in turn, is now part of Croatia.
To produce these maps, De Agostini collaborated with Vsevolod Petrovic Nicouline, a Russian illustrator, painter and ceramicist. Nicouline fled the Bolshevik Revolution to Istanbul where he met his wife. They both travelled to Genoa, Italy and finally settled in Nervi, where he opened a studio and became a well-regarded artist.
This example is from the 1941 edition of the work.
Printed colour with gold and silver highlights. [IT3644]
