Giovanni De Agostini
42 x 52 cm
Marche is an Italian region in the north eastern section of the country while San Marino is a very old micro state which is considered the world's oldest surviving Republic.
To produce these maps, De Agostini collaborated with Vsevolod Petrovic Nicouline, a Russian illustrator, painter and ceramicist. Nicouline fled the Bolshevik Revolution to Istanbul where he met his wife. They both travelled to Genoa, Italy and finally settled in Nervi, where he opened a studio and became a well-regarded artist.
This example is from the 1941 edition of the work.
Printed colour with gold and silver highlights. [IT3648]
