Beautiful folding map of London, extending from Hammersmith to Stratford, and from Stoke Newington to Camberwell. This edition of Mogg's map has a newly-added western section which did not appear on earlier editions, containing Hammersmith, Notting Hill, Kensal, Willesden Green, and Putney. Several early railways are marked with thick black lines.
Many parts of the city, including Paddington, South Kensington, Earls Court, Battersea, and Pimlico are still under development at this time, while northern areas such as Hampstead, Kentish Town, Holloway, and Stoke Newington remain entirely separate villages. Victoria Park has been laid out, but Battersea Park has yet to be conceived - Mogg's placement of his scale bar over what is now Battersea Park shows just how disregarded this area was at the time.
