A fascinating historical map of the Atlantic Ocean illustrating the four voyages of discovery of Christopher Columbus, from his first voyage in 1492 to his final voyage in 1502-4. The supposed course of each voyage is charted based on the ships' logs and Columbus's journals, with dates marked at various points along each of the routes. Columbus's first landing in the New World is placed on San Salvador (Watling Island) in the Bahamas. Though still disputed, this was believed at the time to be the most probable site of the first landing.
