Attractive map of the African continent in the early 19th century.
The geographical outline of this attractive map of the Aftican continent resembles the map issued by Thomas Kitchin in 1783; however, the aesthetic is quite different. Of note is the increasingly sparse interior detail reflecting a new emphasis on scientific cartography. The naming of the vast unknown interior as "Ethiopia" would persist into the mid 19th century.
