Unusually detailed guide map issued in the early 20th century of the New Hebrides, now modern Vanuatu.
The map subdivides the Banks Islands named by Captain William Bligh and the Torres Islands named after a 16th century Spanish navigator.
This map was published when the islands were under a unique joint government system between Great Britain and France although the French population was almost twice the size as the British at that point.
Original colour. [AUNZ2940]
