The coast of West Africa and interior. This is the updated version this map featured in the later editions of the works by the Society.
The earlier map published in 1839 focuses on the search for Timbuktu with lines showing the routes of several explorers as they travelled through the unknown interior.
This later map shows their discoveries, the location of Timbuktu, here called Timbo and adds one other interesting feature: in an area called the grain coast a line delineates the new country of Liberia. Original colour. [AFR6234]
