Large map of Tasmania published on the cusp of the Victorian period and shortly after it was declared independent from New South Wales.
As with most of Johnston's Australian maps, it was based on John Arrowsmith's map of Tasmania. Arrowsmith in turn sourced his map from the Parliamentary Papers published by Hansard.
