The war demonstrated both the poor state of Greece's army and the success of the reorganization of the Ottoman army by the German mission under Colmar Freiherr von der Goltz. After less than a month of fighting, the Ottoman army was only prevented from capturing Athens by a telegraph from the Russian Tsar ordering the Ottomans to halt and intervention by the other Great Powers. Ironically, despite the overwhelming Ottoman victory, the outcome of the war was semi-independence for the island of Crete, the original cause of the war.
Given the brief duration of the war and the very specialist subject matter, it is likely that this map was published in very small numbers.
