Air France
59 x 94 cm
Boucher drew two maps on this odd oval projection for Air France. They were designed to show the newly opened direct route from Paris to New York City and also to showcase Air France's ambitions in establishing Pacific routes, particularly between Anchorage Alaska and destinations in the Far East, such as Japan.
Unusually, this map seems to feature the world at night, with a dark blue night sky and a border adorned by classical figures and star constellations in Boucher's signature style.
Laid down on linen. Original colour. [WLD4797]
