Nicolas de Fer
Reduced version of de Fer's map of Asia based on his famous wall map of 1698.
It includes his theory of a possible land bridge between Asia and America through Japan. A note states that this is based on Portuguese maps. Although the geography of the map is relatively crude for the time, he credits the Royal Academy of Sciences as its source. He also includes a large cartouche on the upper left, dedicating the map to the Dauphin, to whom he was the official cartographer. Coloured. [AS1274]
