Munster's map, first published in the 1541 edition of the "Geographia" is perceived as the first "modern" map which shows the area of Greece, with the Aegean Sea and western Anatolia. This version with its Latin title, first appeared in the companion volume to the " Geographia" entitled the "Cosmographia" in 1544.
This depiction of Greece differs markedly from the earlier "modern" depiction of the region by Martin Waldseemuller in 1513, who produced a map of the whole of the Balkan Peninsula, suggesting that Munster used his own considerable scholarship to draw this map.
This example is the 1572 edition of the map. [GRC1903]
