Giovanni De Agostini
52 x 42 cm
This map was originally published as part of the larger 1939 'Artistic Edition' of Giovanni De Agostini's Imago Italiae, containing 19 pictorial maps of the provinces of Italy. The maps' English text suggest that these volumes were published for a British or (more likely) American audience.
To produce these maps, De Agostini collaborated with Vsevolod Petrovic Nicouline, a Russian illustrator, painter and ceramicist. Nicouline fled the Bolshevik Revolution to Istanbul where he met his wife. They both ended up in Genoa, Italy and finally settled in Nervi, where he opened a studio and became a well-regarded artist.
Printed colour with gold and silver highlights. [IT3624]
